On a really good mountain day I first got the mountain bug in 1994. I realised that despite my computing degree, I hadn't achieved anything in life, so I set myself the target of climbing Ben Nevis before my next birthday. I managed it, so the next year I went for every major peak over 4000ft in Britain. I have now climbed over 500 peaks, from the lowliest Marilyn (Crowborough) to the rugged peaks of Skye.

This Website brings together just a few of the photo's, stories and rocks brought back from my travels. I've kept my mugshots mainly to this page, so as not to spoil the views on the rest of the site. For those that are technically minded, all the pages on this site have been created in a simple text editor to fit a screen size of 800 X 600. It will display at other sizes, but it probably won't look as good.

Just been to... - this gives you some idea of what I've been up to the last few months (basically a dull list of hills).

With the Isle Of Man in September and Snowdonia in October, I'm now on track to climb my 600th Marilyn in approximately a year. I set the goal to reach the 'Marilyn hall of fame' (those who have climbed 600+ of the 1500 or so peaks) way back in 1995, when I chanced upon a copy of 'The Relative Hills Of Britain'. So far around 150 people have achieved this feat - and as far as I know they all used cars, rather than public transport to get around.

The show piece picture remains The view from Fuar Tholl, despite the temptation to replace it with a view of arguably Britains finest beach - Luskentyre. I'm saving that, as I'll be back one day to catch it at its best. When the tide is in, the blues and greens of the sea mingle with the red brown river water, swirling across the giant canvas of pale sand.

Can I have my camera back now please! Having pondered the future of this site for some months now, I've decided to keep it going with irregular updates for as long as I can. There are still a few gaps to fill, and just enough space left to do so.

Finally, if anyone fancies borrowing these words/pictures, I have no objection, so long as you say where you got them from. Should you make a profit from them, I would appreciate a contribution for all the effort it takes to bring them to you.
