The Woodland Room
The New Forest in Autumn (20" x 16", oil, 2002)
2001 was a good year for Autumn leaves in the New Forest
This picture comes from a photo taken in late October that year
Late Autumn in The Weald (26" x 18", oil, 1997)
Having walked the South Downs way in Saturday sized pieces, I finally got
round to completing it in December.
This painting stems from a photo taken that bright December morning, and was my first
attempt at woodland.
Ober Water (New Forest) (18" x 24", oil, 2000)
I live close to the New Forest, so I'm able to reach this beauty spot when it looks its best,
and the tourists are absent. This painting stems from a photo taken at such a moment.
Walk past here on my New Forest walk.
Blackdown plantation, Sussex (14" x 18", oil, 2001)
One Saturday in early January I took a day trip to Blackdown hill.
The flat top was covered in a pine plantation with a rich carpet of moss
and bracken below. This painting comes from a photo taken then.
May Hill in May, Gloucestershire (24" x 18", oil, 2001)
Walking back from climbing a hill in Gloucestershire, I stumbled on May Hill.
As I walked there came ever more bluebells.
This painting captures the colours that my camera missed.
