Snowdrops (12" x 10", oil, 2004)
I saw this clump of snowdrops at a quiet road junction in South Wales.
The photo made an obvious choice for a small painting.



Butterfly On Salisbury Plain (10" x 12", oil, 2001)
Walking across the wilds of Salisbury Plain to construct my own long distance route,
I noticed butterflies that I hadn't seen on cultivated ground. This one
stayed still long enough to be photographed. The painting came from the photo.



Dartmoor Bluebells (10" X 12", oil, 2004)
2004 had a wet Spring, which made it a good year for Spring flowers
I found this lush crop of bluebells and other flowers in a grassy spot
beside the path, at the edge of a Dartmoor wood.

I found these whilst walking along the spectacular coastline of the Lizard Peninsula.

Being warm and damp, 2004 was a good year for toadstools.
I came across these whilst on a fungus forage in the New Forest



Primrose, Dorset (12" X 10", oil, 2003)
Walking in Dorset in Spring, I came across a wooded path lined with primroses.
I photographed the scene, and took a close up of one clump.

In autumn I often look out for interesting fungi.
I came across this stump near Royden Woods in the New Forest



Rose (10" x 12", oil, 2005)
This is one of a pair of pictures showing roses in the garden of my new house.
I painted these as a challenge to capture the complexity of the flower.



Orchid (10" x 12", oil, 2004)
In many of Scotlands wild places you'll find orchids dotted around the drier grassy areas.
There are two main types - a vibrant pink one, and this more delicate white variety.
