Yorkshire Moors
Richards Mountain Pages
Whereas the Yorkshire Dales are mainly gaps between the hills, the Yorkshire Moors tends to be lots of moor with little
gaps. The Moors form a sort of plateau, rising gently as they head North, before dropping quite quickly before
Middlesborough comes into view. The best way to see them is to tackle the Cleveland Way, but the Coast to Coast path is
also a good option. Unfortunately, when I tackled them in 1999 the mist was down, so I've got no decent photo's to show you.
The Coast to Coast site provides information about the Northern part of the
region. Whilst the Cleveland Way site fills in some of the gaps.
The ultimate place to stay the night must surely be the remote Lion Inn at Blakey
- no sign of any pentangles there, let alone warnings about the full moon!
